The Spiral Stabilization method helps with back pain, scoliosis, disc herniation, or after spinal surgery. It is suitable for all age groups, children from the age of five and also for pregnant women. In addition, it prevents the development of faulty posture and muscle imbalances. Top athletes use Spiral Stabilization to help them improve their sporting performance, recover faster after strain and, above all, achieve sporting success without damaging their health.
Scoliosis is a condition of the spine characterized by a distinctive curvature. If the curvature reaches 20°Cobb, corset therapy is indicated. If the curvature reaches 40° Cobb, surgery is indicated for the patient. Patients diagnosed with this condition can be successfully treated using a conservative rehabilitation approach. With early detection, regular practice of the Spiral Stabilization method can reduce the scoliotic curve and avoid spinal surgery even for curves above 40 degrees Cobb. However, this requires an experienced physiotherapist and regular exercise several times daily.
For the best possible results in treating scoliosis with the Spiral Stabilization method, not only regular exercise and manual techniques are needed, but also the cooperation of the patient with the physiotherapist. Regular photo documentation is part of the rehabilitation process, which allows specific physiological changes to be recorded. Documenting enables the physiotherapist to respond to the findings in a timely manner.
Anička was diagnosed with idiopathic scoliosis at the age of 4.5 years, and for this reason her parents decided to visit our center. Unfortunately, at that time the curve in the thoracic spine was already over 40° Cobb and the curve in the hips was 39° Cobb, which meant spinal surgery. The surgery date was six months away, which was the time to either reverse the condition of Anička's spine with intensive rehabilitation or prepare her for surgery.
From the very beginning of the rehabilitation, the cooperation of Anička's parents, who regularly exercised with her at home and came to the rehabilitation center for manual techniques, was a very important factor. The first photos show Anička's spine at the age of 4 and a half years. Improvement can be observed after only six months of intensive exercise and manual techniques. The last photos are from the age of 8 and we can see that the curve is improving. A corset worn at night also helped to improve the condition.
Thanks to the Spiral Stabilization rehabilitation, Anička avoided spinal surgery and her scoliotic curve was visibly corrected. For the first year, Anička exercised with her parents at home 3 times a day for 10-15 minutes. Today she only needs parental assistance when a new correction instruction is added to the exercise routine. Once she learns the correction on her own, she does not need any assistance.
In the future, regular check-ups with a physiotherapist are important, and it is necessary to watch the period of puberty when it is typical for scoliotic curvature to go wrong again due to hormones. An active family approach is also essential until the child's growth is complete.
Scoliotic curves can be reduced or completely eliminated by exercises, manual techniques and corrections. However, exercising permanently and regularly several times daily is necessary. It is up to each of us to decide what to do with our health.
Disc herniation occurs due to wear and tear of the intervertebral discs, for example by prolonged sitting or standing. The most common type of herniation is disc herniation in the cervical and lumbar spine. Tingling sensations, impaired mobility, and sensitivity often accompany this pain.. In the most serious cases, there is a risk of permanent nerve damage.
The Spiral Stabilization exercises can help you absorb a prolapse within 3 to 12 months. At the beginning of the treatment, it is advisable to work with a therapist who will use massage to relax the tight muscles along the spine and stretch the spine. This is immediately followed by exercise. With regular Spiral Stabilization exercises, you can get rid of the pain very soon. However, it is also necessary to build up a muscle corset within three months as it will stabilize and constantly regenerate the body and prevent a recurrence. It is also a good idea to supplement the exercises with an optimally coordinated and stabilized walk of at least two kilometers daily.
When treating a herniated disc using the Spiral Stabilization method, it is desirable for the patient to fully cooperate with the physiotherapist, exercise regularly and undergo manual techniques. Regular photo documentation is part of the rehabilitation process which allows specific physiological changes in the area of the prolapsed disc to be recorded, making it possible for the physiotherapist to intervene actively in the treatment process.
Petra started to have hip pain shooting into her left buttock and hip during her first pregnancy. She underwent an MRI scan at another institution and was found to have damage to two intervertebral discs, L4/L5 and L5/S1. The patient then underwent surgery to remove the damaged L5/S1 disc. However, the L4/5 disc was not operated on, and the patient continued to have difficulties after the surgery.
Due to persistent pain, especially in her hips, she visited our center, where she was examined musculoskeletally, and her condition was reassessed. After disc surgery, her lumbar pain worsened severely, and the pain radiated to her left buttock and left hip. She also complained of ongoing numbness in her left foot. The pain kept waking her up when turning over in bed, and she also felt pain when walking. She started her therapy with an intensive exercise program combined with manual techniques and began to learn the Spiral Stabilization method.
Since Petra lived far away, she chose a phased treatment in the form of a stay. Each treatment stay lasted a week and she completed 3 in total. The first time in March, then in June and the last time in October. Her problems gradually subsided and after 1 year of therapy she was completely pain-free, could sleep well again, and walking was no longer painful. A follow-up MRI was performed and confirmed healing of the L4/5 disc and absorption of the herniated disc.
A year ago, she could not imagine another pregnancy, but now she feels fit again and is no longer worried about the load on her spine during and after pregnancy. She knows how to take care of her spine every day to keep it healthy. After a year of exercising, she wrote to tell us that she got pregnant again and after some time she sent us a photo of her little baby.
Back pain affects more than 90% of the population, not only adults but, unfortunately, also children. A sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, obesity and other factors contribute to muscle imbalances. Poor posture can easily turn into scoliosis, which should not be underestimated.
With regular exercises of Spiral Stabilization, you can get rid of pain very soon, but it is necessary to exercise regularly and at least twice a day. Ideally, you should do Spiral Stabilization exercises as a preventive measure and make exercise and healthy walking a part of your daily routine.

František Hofman was the European Natural Bodybuilding Champion 2012 and 2015, the Natural Bodybuilding World Champion in 2013 and 2016 the overall winner of the Czech National Natural Bodybuilding Championship 2015. He got acquainted with the Spiral Stabilization method thanks to his girlfriend, who suffered back pain. Then he took a course which helped him understand the basic principles of the method and applied them in his weight training. The exercises help him relax the built-up muscles and teach him how to perform the strengthening exercises correctly and, above all, safely.
The Spiral Stabilization method allows you to exercise many muscles at the same time. This can be described as muscle cooperation - muscles are chained together during the movement, strengthening the body’s core - the muscle corset. This increases the strength of individual muscles, and the body learns to create optimally functional movement patterns. For a healthy spine, avoiding exercises that compress the spine is crucial. Therefore, we emphasize stretching the spine upwards. That's the only way the body can regenerate properly.
As František himself says, it was largely the Spiral Stabilization method that helped him to win. Even though he had a career as a top athlete, his spine is undamaged today thanks to proper muscle relaxation and compensation exercises. In top athletes, after some time X-rays show advanced degenerative changes in the spine, which are especially common in fitness. However, there are no visible changes on the X-ray of František.
In bodybuilding and all sports, we should not forget our health. It is one thing to gain volume, strengthen muscles, speed up running or improve sports performance. Another thing is to allow the spine and joints to regenerate and prevent muscle imbalances. And that's precisely what the Spiral Stabilization method can do.
